Mark your calendars for August 15, 2004, as 105.3 WDAS FM & 1480 WDAS-AM present the 26th Annual Unity Day! This event has become a staple for the city of Philadelphia, and continues to get bigger and better every year. It has grown from an event with 20,000 to over a million people! This landmark Philadelphia event celebrating family values, pride, and empowerment runs from 11AM to 8PM. The Ben Franklin Parkway will be filled delicious food, vendors, art exhibitions, literary workshops, a softball game, children's activities, and free performances.

The 26th Annual UNITY DAY celebration promotes unity among families as well as peace among people of all walks of life. Unity Day events and activities are created with a focus on family values. This event provides positive entertainment and information for all ages!




 

Unity Day, Sunday on the Parkway, features live entertainment stages, pavilions, children’s area, plus more. Non-stop music includes everything from classic R&B to Gospel, along with Jazz and sounds of the world.
 

The day concludes at the Unity 2004 Main Stage, featuring national recording artists. The 26th Annual Unity Day Celebration promises to be another great event!
WDAS's Unity Day has become the nation's largest radio driven event. Both 105.3 WDAS FM and 1480 WDAS-AM are heritage stations that have served our community for decades. Their rich history of social activism combined with the finest R&B, and legendary personalities like Joe "Butterball" Tamburro, Doug Henderson, Patty Jackson, Gary Shepherd, Reverend Louise Williams, and Tony Brown have created generations of fiercely loyal listeners!

• R&B Stage featuring performances by Boyz II Men, Lalah Hathaway, Tamyra Gray, Tarralyn Ramsey, Rick Fante, Lady Alma, Rheel Menn and Boney James… presented by SOUTHWEST, Anheuser Busch and PA Lottery.









 


• Multi Cultural Stage featuring performance by Dance for You, Philipine Folk Dance Company, Japanese Rice Dancers, Dragon Boat Chinese Lion Dancers, Pure Aviance Dancers and the African Drum Ensemble… presented by SOUTHWEST & Western Union.












• Children’s Area features comedy, dance, steppers, singing and poetry readings. Bring your child to this area for face painting, balloons and great information… presented by SOUTHWEST.



• ShopRite Taste of Nations featuring delicious cooking demonstrations throughout the day…presented by ShopRite, Lawry’s, Nestle, Proctor and Gamble, Colgate and Kraft.
